Electronic Prescriptions Service
We can now send your prescriptions electronically to the Chemist. All we need you to do is let us know which Pharmacy you would like to nominate as your chosen Pharmacy.
Prescriptions can be collected after 24 hours (1 full working day).
*Please ensure that you have allowed three working days between ordering your prescriptions and collecting the medication. This is to enable us to carry out the following steps:
- Process the prescription
- Deal with any queries that may arise (ie medication needing re-authorising)
- GPs sign the prescription
- Collection by the chemist
Patients on repeat medication may be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Prescriptions charges and exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
